In recent years, “face spoofing fraud” has been rapidly threatening the online financial ecosystem, with numerous cases of impersonation for online account openings. AI identity verification company Authme in partnership with Taishin Bank’s Richart, exhibited the “AI liveness detection technology” at the 2023 Taipei FinTech Expo, aiming to combat financial face spoofing fraud.

Authme and Taishin Bank’s Richart collaborated in the “Digital Finance” exhibition area, focusing on “AI liveness detection technology.” They simulated attack patterns such as Deepfake AI face swapping and high-resolution facial imaging, demonstrating the precise identification of real human faces through AI technology.

Authme’s CEO, Li Ji-Kuang, noted that in June this year, the Financial Supervisory Commission amended the “Standards for Security Control Operations of Electronic Banking Business by Financial Institutions,” recommending that enterprises adopting biometric technology should conduct testing according to the attack patterns specified in the international standard ISO/IEC-30107. This implies that enterprises must enhance their biometric recognition standards to strengthen security protection.

He stated that Authme’s self-developed AI liveness detection technology has passed the ISO/IEC-30107 international certification. By analyzing facial skin texture, face depth, and microvascular blood flow, it effectively distinguishes the authenticity of faces in front of the camera. This innovative anti-counterfeiting technology, integrated with the banks’ online account opening KYC process, will enhance digital financial security for customers and prevent impersonation fraud.
